Tangential People

Tangential lives
To the circle of my life.

Around I go.
You touch me at points
yet never pierce my center.

Some hyperbolic few
Stay with me through the curve of time.
But are soon flung directly away.

I go nowhere
but back
Though I march only forward.

I go nowhere
but where I'm from.
Though I never return

Rainy days and rainbows
Bring me down and up,
Yet I am flat.

Rhythms and rhymes,
Warm and soothe me,
Yet I am cold

An exposed nerve
running a circle
never ending
and never blending.
